Speaking at Boston College's Lumen et Vita conference.

Through his speaking, writing, and scholarship, Deepan aims to serve the Church by making theology accessible to every day Catholics. For Deepan, theology is studied not for its own sake, but rather as a means to evangelize the Church - to help Catholics and others deepen their relationship with GOD.

An accomplished speaker, Deepan was a guest on the Busted Halo Show and has spoken at many parish, diocesan, and university events, including Theology on Taps, Youth 2000, youth conferences and retreats, diocesan young adult events, and more.

A scholar of constructive theology, Deepan is earning a PhD in Theology at Saint Louis University and has a Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) from Boston College.  In the course of his studies, Deepan has built competency in multiple languages for theological scholarship including Latin, Biblical Greek, French, and German.  He has shared his scholarship in numerous national and international theological conferences and earned the prestigious Susan Perry award from the College Theology Society in 2020. As a scholar, Deepan is dedicated to the catechesis and formation of missionary disciples.  As such, he was certified as a catechist by the Diocese of Nashville Office of Catechetical Formation and earned a certificate in University Teaching Skills from Saint Louis University.

Deepan also has a breath of experience in professional ministry. Deepan has taught an array of theology courses for Catholics pursuing lay and ordained ministry. He has served Catholic youth, young adults, and families as a parish youth minister (Diocese of Nashville, TN) and has served university students (Boston College Campus Ministry).

These ministry experiences drive his academic questions and push him to make theology accessible and understandable to everyday Catholics. Deepan applies his ministerial lens to his speaking, writing, and scholarship by employing theology as a means to engage the Church in a real and meaningful way.

Born in Wisconsin, Deepan is the son of parents from Sri Lanka who immigrated to the United States for graduate studies. He has been married to his wife Allison since 2016 and resides in St. Louis.
